ABSTRACT

To study the chemical constituents and their biological activities in the rhizomes of Curcuma phaeocaulis, silica gel column chromatography, reverse medium pressure liquid chromatography, preparative thin layer chromatography, and semi-preparative high performance liquid chromatography were used for isolation and purification and modern spectroscopic methods were used to determine the structure of the isolated compound. Moreover, the effect of the compound on the proliferation of HUVECs was determined by the MTT assay. A new elemane-type sesquiterpenoid glycoside was isolated from the n-butanol soluble fraction of 95% ethanolic extract of the rhizomes of Curcuma phaeocaulis. Its structure was identified as (1Z)-2-hydroxy-curzerenone 2-O-β-D-glucoside. It showed no inhibitory effect on the proliferation of HUVECs.

ABSTRACT

The prevalence of myopia is increasing year by year, seriously affecting the public's quality of life. To date, various animal models of myopia have been established to explore the pathogenesis of myopia. Guinea pigs have obvious advantages in myopia research. At present, guinea pigs are the most common myopia animal model in Asian laboratories, but different modeling methods have their own advantages and disadvantages. Understanding different modeling methods is conducive to selecting appropriate animal models and matching different research purposes, which makes the research results more persuasive. In this paper, the different modeling methods and characteristics of guinea pig myopia model in recent years, as well as the changes of ocular histomorphology in guinea pigs are briefly reviewed, with a view to providing some reference for further study of the molecular mechanism of myopia occurrence and development and finding new treatment strategies.

ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVE@#To explore the influence of the thickness of mixed cardboard on the compressive strength of glass ionomer cement and the associated factors.@*METHODS@#Three different types of glass ionomer cements were mixed on the top of 60, 40, 20 and 1 pieces of paper (P60, P40, P20 and P1), respectively. The compressive strength of the materials was tested after solidification, and the bubble rate was calculated with the assistance of scanning electron microscope.@*RESULTS@#(1) Compressive strength: ① ChemFil Superior glass ionomer (CF): The average compressive strength of P1 group was the highest, which was significantly different from that of P40 and P60 groups (P values were 0.041 and 0.032 respectively); ② To Fuji IX GP glass ionomer (IX): The average compressive strength of P1 group was the highest, which was statistically different from that of P40 and P60 groups (P values were 0.042 and 0.038 respectively); ③ Glaslonomer FX-Ⅱ glass ionomer cement (FX): The average compressive strength of P1 group was the highest, which was statistically different from that of P20, P40 and P60 groups (P values were 0.031, 0.040 and 0.041 respectively), but there was no statistical difference among the other groups. All the three materials showed that the compressive strength of glass ions gradually increased with the decrease of the thickness of the blended paperboard, and the two materials had a highly linear negative correlation, the correlation coefficients of which were CF-0.927, IX-0.989, FX-0.892, respectively. (2) Scanning electron microscope: P1 group had the least bubbles among the three materials.@*CONCLUSION@#It indicates that the thickness of mixed cardboard has a negative correlation with the compressive strength of glass ions. The thicker the mixed cardboard is, the greater the elasticity is. Excessive elasticity will accelerate the mixing speed when the grinding glass ions. Studies have shown that the faster the speed of artificial mixing is, the more bubbles is produced. The thicker ther mixed cardboard is, the more bubblesn are generated by glass ionomer cement, and the higher the compressive strength is. Using one piece of paper board to mix glass ionomer cement has the least bubbles and can obtain higher compressive strength.

ABSTRACT

AIM: To evaluate the effect of anterior capsule polishing on visual quality after phacoemulsification.METHODS: Prospective randomized control study. A total of 65 patients(73 eyes)with age-related cataract who underwent phacoemulsification combined with intraocular lens(IOL)implantation in the Emergency General Hospital between November 2021 and June 2022 were included. These patients were randomly assigned to two groups, with one group(anterior polishing group)underwent anterior and posterior capsule polishing(30 cases, 35 eyes), while the other(control group)receive routine posterior capsule polishing(35 cases, 38 eyes). Best corrected visual acuity was observed at 1wk, 1, 3 and 6mo after operation. Area of anterior capsule orifice was measured at 3 and 6mo after operation. Meanwhile, posterior capsular opacification(P score), IOL tilt and decentration were recorded by Pentacam Scheimpflug system. In addition, wavefront aberration, Strehl ratio(SR)of point spread function(PSF)and modulation transfer function(MTF)were evaluated by OPD-Scan Ⅲ.RESULTS: At 1wk, 1, 3 and 6mo after operation, best corrected visual acuity in anterior polishing group is significantly better than that of control group(P<0.05). There were no significant differences in area of anterior capsule opening, P score, IOL decentration, SR of PSF and MTF between two groups at 3 and 6mo after operation(P>0.05). At 3mo follow-up, no significant differences in IOL tilt and wavefront aberration were measured between two groups either(P>0.05). However, IOL tilt [(1.65±0.60)° vs.(2.34±0.43)°, P<0.001] and wavefront aberration(0.03±0.01μm vs. 0.06±0.03μm, P<0.001)in anterior polishing group were significant lower compared to control group at 6mo after operation.CONCLUSION: 360° polishing of anterior and posterior capsule during phacoemulsification can improve best corrected visual quality, with reduced IOL tilt, lower wavefront aberration and better visual quality.

ABSTRACT

AIM: To systematically evaluate the effects of low-energy red light on choroidal thickness(ChT), spherical equivalent(SE), and axial length(AL)in myopic children.METHODS: A total of 8 databases, including Pubmed, Embase, Cochrane Library, Web of Science, CNKI, WanFang Database, VIP Database and China Biomedical Literature Database, were electronically retrieved to collect the clinical randomized controlled trial(RCT)of low-energy red light in myopia, with red light intervention as an experimental group and glasses as a control group. The retrieval time limit is from the establishment of the database to January 2023. According to the recommendation of the Cochrane Handbook, literature quality and risk of bias were evaluated. Revman5.4 software was used for Meta-analysis.RESULTS: Totally 8 RCT about red-light treatment with myopia were included. The sample size for ChT analysis contained 407 eyes in the red-light group and 425 eyes in the control group; SE analysis included 490 eyes in the red-light group and 518 eyes in the control group; sample size for AL analysis were 518 eyes in the red-light group and 539 eyes in the control group. The differences in ChT, SE and AL between the groups were statistically significant(ChT: WMD=37.81, 95%CI: 21.55~54.07, P<0.001; SE: WMD=0.58, 95%CI: 0.46~0.71, P<0.001; AL: WMD=-0.31, 95%CI: -0.39~-0.24, P<0.001).CONCLUSION: Specific red light can promote the increase of ChT while inhibit SE and AL. However, its long-term efficacy and side effects remain unclear. The above conclusions need to be further clarified by more RCT with large samples.

ABSTRACT

Objective To measure the burden of hepatitis C-associated diseases in China from 1990 to 2019, and to predict its changes from 2020 to 2044, so as to provide insights into formulation of the targeted hepatitis C control strategy. Methods The total burden due to hepatitis C-associated diseases in China from 1990 to 2019 were extracted from the Global Burden of Disease 2019 (GBD 2019) data resources, and the trends in age-standardized prevalence, incidence, mortality and disability-adjusted life years (DALYs) rate of hepatitis C-associated acute hepatitis C (AHC), chronic liver diseases (CLD) and liver cancer in China from 1990 to 2019 were evaluated in China from 1990 to 2019 using estimated annual percentage change (EAPC). In addition, the changes in the burden of hepatitis C-associated diseases were predicted in China from 2020 to 2044 using a Bayesian model. Results The prevalence, incidence, mortality and DALY rate of hepatitis C-associated diseases all appeared an overall tendency towards a decline in China from 1990 to 2019 (EAPC = −2.64%, −2.24%, −3.81% and −3.90%, respectively); however, there was a minor rise in the incidence and prevalence of hepatitis C-associated diseases from 2015 to 2019. The overall prevalence of hepatitis C-associated diseases reduced from 2 152.7/105 in 1990 to 1 254.1/105 in 2019 in China, with a reduction of 41.7%. The overall incidence reduced from 87.9/105 in 1990 to 55.0/105 in 2019 in China, with a reduction of 37.4%, and the highest incidence was seen for AHC, followed by CLD and liver cancer. The overall mortality and DALY rate of hepatitis C-associated diseases was 4.0/105 and 100.8/105 in China from 1990 to 2019, with CLD showing the largest contributions to the gross mortality and DALY. The mortality and DALY rate of hepatitis C-associated diseases were 5.5/105 and 142.4/105 among men in China in 2019, which were both much higher than among women (2.8/105 and 60.3/105, respectively), and the overall prevalence (1 604.9/105), mortality (30.2/105) and DALYs (437.1/105) of hepatitis C-associated diseases were all highest among patients at ages of 70 years and older, and the highest incidence was seen among patients at ages of 0 to 9 years (167.3/105). The incidence of hepatitis C-associated diseases was predicted to rise in China from 2020 to 2044; however, the DALY rate was projected to appear a tendency towards a decline. Conclusions Although the burden of hepatitis C-associated diseases showed a tendency towards a decline in China from 1990 to 2019, the burden remained high, and was predicted to slightly rise from 2020 to 2044. High attention should be paid to screening of hepatitis C among infants and treatment among adults.

ABSTRACT

AIM: To investigate the correlation between postoperative lens decentration and tilt and visual quality in eyes implanted with aspherical intraocular lens(IOL)by using a new anterior segment swept-source optical coherence tomography(OCT)CASIA2.METHODS: An observational study. A total of 90 eyes of 62 participants who underwent age-related cataract surgery at 1mo were included. Using CASIA2 by an experienced examiner, IOL tilt and decentration were obtained three consecutive times after mydriasis and the vector mean values were calculated. Double-pass optical quality analysis system(OQAS)and wavefront aberration instrument KR-1W were used for the visual quality measurements, including the total high-order aberration(tHOA), spherical aberration(SA), Coma, objective scatter index(OSI), modulation transfer function cut off frequency(MTF cut off)and Strehl ratio(SR)at 4 and 6mm pupil diameter.RESULTS: IOL decentration was positively correlated with SA(r=0.347, P=0.001)and OSI(r=0.343, P=0.002)at 4mm pupil diameter, and it was negatively correlated with MTF cut off(r=-0.244, P=0.032). There was no significant correlation between IOL decentration and tHOA, Coma and SR. IOL tilt was negatively correlated with MTF cut off(r=0.-345, P=0.002)and SR(r=-0.256, P=0.023)at 4mm pupil diameter, but it was not correlated with tHOA, SA, Coma and OSI. There were no significant correlations between the IOL decentration and tilt and tHOA, SA, Coma, MTF cut off and SR at 6mm pupil diameter.CONCLUSION: After aspherical IOL implantation in age-related cataract patients, IOL decentration was weakly correlated with SA at 4mm pupil diameter, while decentration and tilt were not significantly correlated with other higher-order aberrations. The decentration and tilt were weakly correlated with OSI value and MTF cut off value of the visual quality parameters. The results suggest that clinicians should pay more attention to higher-order aberrations and visual quality during precise cataract surgery.

ABSTRACT

Objective:To investigate the characteristics of gene mutation by using whole exome sequencing (WES) and its relationship with therapeutic efficacy in patients with acute myeloid leukemia (AML).Methods:The data of 30 patients with AML from the Second Hospital of Anhui Medical University between December 2014 and September 2019 were retrospectively analyzed; the result of WES, disease type and classification, genetic prognostic stratification and therapeutic efficacy were summarized. The mutation types and mutation frequency of AML patients stratified by the different clinical characteristics and genetic prognosis were compared. Results:Among 30 AML patients, 26 cases (86.7%) had 1 gene mutation at least. The genes with a mutation frequency more than 10.0% were NRAS, RUNX1, TET2, CEBPA, IDH2 and ASXL1. The function of the mutated genes was involved in signaling pathways, transcription factors, epigenetics, and RNA splicing and other biological functions; in terms of mutation pattern, 19 cases (63.3%) of all AML patients mainly presented combined mutations of many combinations. There were no significant differences in mutation rates among age, gender, disease type, disease classification and genetic prognosis stratification groups (all P > 0.05). Of the 8 fusion gene positive cases, 7 were mutated, the average mutation frequency was 175.0% (14/8). There were 19 mutations in 22 patients with negative fusion gene, the average mutation frequency was 213.6% (47/22), and the difference in mutation frequency between the two groups was statistically significant ( P = 0.001). Of the 14 cases of continuous remission, 11 had mutations, with average mutation frequency of 157.1% (22/14); there were 9 cases of mutations in 10 relapsed patients, and the average mutation frequency was 200.0% (20/10); mutations occurred in 5 patients with primary drug resistance, and the average mutation frequency was 300.0% (15/5); and the difference of mutation frequency among the three groups was statistically significant ( P = 0.009). Conclusions:Through WES analysis, it is found that most AML patients have complex and variable gene mutations; and the higher the gene mutation frequency is, the worse the prognosis of the disease is.

ABSTRACT

To investigate the chemical constituents of Anisodus tanguticus, silica gel column chromatography, Sephadex LH-20 column chromatography, preparative thin layer chromatography, and semi-preparative HPLC were used to separate and purify the chemical constituents from the extract of A. tanguticus. The planar structure of the isolated compound was identified by HRMS, IR, and 2D NMR experiments. The absolute configuration of the isolated compound was determined by a combination of NOESY, coupling constant, circular dichroism (CD), and transition metal chelate reagent dimolybdenum tetraacetate [Mo2(OAc)4]-induced circular dichroism (ICD) data analysis. A new compound of the anisotane-type sesquiterpene (1) was isolated, which was determined to be (1R,2S,3R,4R,6R,7R,9R)-anisotane-11(13)-ene-3,4,9-triol and named anisotanol F. This is the second report of anisotane-type sesquiterpene, which has previously been reported as a novel sesquiterpenoid skeleton by our research group. Furthermore, the cytotoxicity against HUVECs and inhibitory effect on NO release in LPS-induced RAW264.7 cells of compound 1 were investigated. However, the results showed that it was inactive. Compound 1 is a new compound isolated from A. tanguticus. It belongs to the unusual anisotane-type sesquiterpene. This result enriches the chemical composition of A. tanguticus.

ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVE@#To observe the influence of acupuncture on microcirculation perfusion of the pericardium meridian and heart in acute myocardial ischemia (AMI) rats and evaluate whether acupuncture can simultaneously affect the meridians and corresponding viscera. Additionally, acupoints at different meridians were compared and whether they exert the same effects was discussed.@*METHODS@#Totally 32 Sprague-Dawley rats were subjected to left anterior descending (LAD) ligation to develop an AMI model. Rats were divided into 4 groups, including AMI, acupuncture Neiguan (PC 6), Lieque (LU 7) and Qiansanli (LI 10) groups (n=8). Eight rats received only thoracotomy (sham-operated group). The rats in the acupuncture groups received manual acupuncture at PC 6, LU 7 and LI 10 acupoints for 15 min, respectively. The microcirculation perfusion of pericardium meridian and heart was monitored by laser speckle perfusion imager (LSPI) before, during and after acupuncture manipulation for 15 min. Subsequently, the perfusion unit (PU) was calculated and analyzed by PSI System.@*RESULTS@#After LAD, compared to pre-acupuncture stage, the heart microcirculation perfusion (HMP) in the AMI group decreased continuously at during-acupuncture (P>0.05) and post-acupuncture stages (P0.05). Compared to pre-acupuncture stage, the PMP and HMP in PC 6 group significantly increased during acupuncture manipulation (both P0.05); however, they were significantly reduced after acupuncture manipulation (both P<0.05). Additionally, HMP of LI 10 group was decreased significantly during acupuncture, especially compared to pre-acupuncture stage (P<0.05).@*CONCLUSIONS@#Acupuncture at PC 6 obviously increased the PMP and HMP in AMI rats, and the effects were superior to at LU 7 and LI 10 acupoints. It was further confirmed that acupuncture promoted qi and blood circulation, indicating that acupoint specificity exists and features a meridian-propagated effect.

ABSTRACT

Neuropathic pain is one of the common complications of diabetes. Tetrahydropalmatine(THP) is a main active component of Corydalis Rhizoma with excellent anti-inflammatory and pain-alleviating properties. This study aims to investigate the therapeutic effect of THP on diabetic neuropathic pain(DNP) and the underlying mechanism. High-fat and high-sugar diet(4 weeks) and streptozotocin(STZ, 35 mg·kg~(-1), single intraperitoneal injection) were employed to induce type-2 DNP in rats. Moreover, lipopolysaccharide(LPS) was used to induce the activation of BV2 microglia in vitro to establish an inflammatory cellular model. Fasting blood glucose(FBG) was measured by a blood glucose meter. Mechanical withdrawal threshold(MWT) was assessed with von Frey filaments, and thermal withdrawal latency(TWL) with hot plate apparatus. The protein expression levels of OX42, inducible nitric oxide synthase(iNOS), CD206, p38, and p-p38 were determined by Western blot, the fluorescence expression levels of OX42 and p-p38 in the dorsal horn of the rat spinal cord by immunofluorescence, the mRNA content of p38 and OX42 in rat spinal cord tissue by qRT-PCR, and levels of nitric oxide(NO), interleukin-1β(IL-1β), interleukin-6(IL-6), tumor necrosis factor-α(TNF-α), interleukin-10(IL-10), and serum fasting insulin(FINS) by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay(ELISA). RESULTS:: showed that the mo-del group demonstrated significant decrease in MWT and TWL, with pain symptoms. THP significantly improved the MWT and TWL of DNP rats, inhibited the activation of microglia and p38 MAPK signaling pathway in rat spinal cord, and ameliorated its inflammatory response. Meanwhile, THP promoted the change of LPS-induced BV2 microglia from the pro-inflammatory M1 phenotype to the anti-inflammatory M2 phenotype, suppressed the activation of the p38 MAPK signaling pathway, decreased the expression levels of inflammatory factors NO, IL-1β, IL-6, and TNF-α, and increased the expression level of anti-inflammatory factor IL-10. The findings suggested that THP can significantly ameliorate the pain symptoms of DNP rats possibly by inhibiting the inflammatory response caused by M1 polarization of microglia via the p38 MAPK pathway.

ABSTRACT

The present study explored the drying effect of new spiral vibration drying technology on Chinese medicinal pills with Liuwei Dihuang Pills, Zhuanggu Guanjie Pills, and Muxiang Shunqi Pills as model drugs. With the drying uniformity, drying time, energy consumption, pill split, dissolution time, and change of index components as evaluation indicators, the drying effect of spiral vibration drying technology on model drugs was evaluated and compared with traditional drying methods, such as hot air drying and vacuum drying in the oven. The dynamic changes of moisture in Liuwei Dihuang Pills with different drying time were investigated. Compared with the traditional drying methods in the oven(hot air drying and vacuum drying) at 80 ℃, the spiral vibration drying only took 80 min, shortened by 80%, with 10%-13% energy consumed. The results showed that the moisture of Liuwei Dihuang Pills was negatively related to the drying time. By virtue of multi-layer countercurrent drying and super resonant fluidization techniques, the new spiral vibration drying technology can significantly improve the drying quality of Chinese medicinal pills, improve the drying efficiency, and enhance the manufacturing capacity of Chinese medicinal pills. This study is expected to provide references for the innovation and development of new drying technology of Chinese medicinal pills.

ABSTRACT

Objective To investigate the clinical characteristics of preadolescent and adolescent female patients with ovarian mass combined with dysplasia of secondary sexual characteristics. Methods This study retrospectively analyzed 18 cases of ovarian mass combined with dysplasia of secondary sexual characteristics aged 0-19 years admitted to Peking Union Medical College Hospital from January 2012 to November 2019.By analyzing the clinical manifestations, surgical methods, postoperative pathology, therapies and prognosis of the cases,we summarized the diagnosis and treatment ideas. Results Among the 18 cases,7(7/18,38.9%)developed secondary sex signs before puberty, including 5 cases showing precocity(including 2 cases of juvenile granulosa cell tumor,1 case of gonadoblastoma,1 case of ovarian follicular cyst, and 1 case of 46,XY simple gonadal dysplasia combined with dysgerminoma)and 2 cases presenting masculine manifestations(1 case of steroid cell tumor and 1 case of sclerosing stromal tumor). The rest 11(11/18,61.1%)cases showed abnormal development of secondary sexual characteristics during puberty, including 8 cases with masculine manifestations or abnormal menstruation after menarche(7 cases with sex cord stromal cell tumor and 1 case with cystic granulosa cell tumor),2 cases with primary amenorrhea(1 case with androgen insensitivity syndrome combined with testicular sertoli cell tumor and 1 case with endometriosis cyst combined with reproductive tract malformation),and 1 case diagnosed as 46,XX gonadal dysplasia with serous cystadenoma and no secondary sexual development during puberty. Conclusions Sex hormone levels should be actively tested in the case of prepubertal secondary sexual characteristics appearing early, pubertal secondary sexual characteristics being abnormal(underdevelopment),and/or menstrual abnormalities.Imaging examination should be performed to exclude ovarian organic lesions, and chromosome karyotype analysis should be performed if necessary. The diagnosis of ovarian mass in preadolescent and adolescent females with related symptoms should first be alerted to cord stromal cell tumor. It is recommended to rule out the possibility of combined reproductive tract malformation in the adolescent patients with primary amenorrhea.Chromosome examination should be conducted to rule out the possibility of gonadal dysplasia in the adolescent patients with primary amenorrhea and/or no development of secondary sexual characteristics.

ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVE@#To explore the characteristics and rules of acupoint sensitization phenomena based on knee osteoarthritis (KOA), one of the clinical dominant diseases of acupuncture-moxibustion.@*METHODS@#In combination with literature and expert experiences, the acupoints with the highest use frequency in treatment of KOA were screened, e.g. Heding (EX-LE 2), Liangqiu (ST 34), Mingmen (GV 4), Neixiyan (EX-LE 4), Ququan (LR 8) and Dubi (ST 35). In 814 patients with KOA and 217 healthy subjects, the acupoint temperature, mechanic pain threshold and pressure pain threshold were detected separately. Using machine learning method, the sensitization was judged at each acupoint.@*RESULTS@#Compared with healthy subjects, the acupoint temperature was increased and the mechanic pain threshold and pressure pain threshold were reduced in KOA patients (P<0.05). Besides, the cut-off value was presented to distinguish whether the acupoint was sensitized or not. The results of machine learning showed that the highest prediction accuracy of acupoint sensitization was 86.7% (Shenshu [BL 23]) and the lowest one was 73.9% (Heding [EX LE 2]). The prediction accuracy at the third clinical stage trial was higher, the highest was 93.3% (Ququan [LR 8]) in KOA patients.@*CONCLUSION@#It is confirmed that the acupoint sensitization reflects the characteristics of disease and is correlative with the conditions of illness, which may provide the reference for the auxiliary diagnosis and condition assessment of KOA.

ABSTRACT

Objective:To explore the application of integrated medical-nursing management model for clinical nursing teaching in neonatology department. Methods:A total of 28 undergraduate nursing students having internship in neonatology department from August 2018 to February 2020 were enrolled in the study, among which 15 nursing students from August 2018 to May 2019 were selected as the control group, and 13 nursing students from August 2019 to February 2020 were selected as the observation group. The control group was given traditional teaching, and the observation group was given integrated teaching of medical care. The theoretical scores, nursing operation, comprehensive quality, total scores and teaching satisfaction of the two groups were compared. SPSS 19.0 was used for t test. Results:The theoretical scores of the observation group and the control group were (96.31±0.85) points and (88.47±1.92) points, respectively. Nursing operation scores of observation group and control group were (95.18±2.06) points and (93.15±2.13) points. Comprehensive quality of observation group and control group were (96.23±1.48) points and (90.47±1.88) points. The total scores of the observation group and the control group were (96.83±1.27) points and (91.20±1.31) points, respectively. All the differences were statistically significant ( P<0.05). Ther were significant differences between the two groups in terms of teaching satisfaction including teaching methods, contents, teachers' satisfaction and total satisfaction( P<0.05). Conclusion:In the clinical nursing teaching of neonatology department, the integrated medical-nursing management model is helpful to improve the clinical comprehensive quality and teaching satisfaction of undergraduate nursing students.

ABSTRACT

Objective@#This study aimed to use an air-liquid interface (ALI) exposure system to simulate the inhalation exposure of motorcycle exhaust particulates (MEPs) and then investigate the benchmark dose (BMD) of MEPs by evaluating cell relative viability (CRV) in lung epithelial BEAS-2B cells.@*Methods@#The MEPs dose was characterized by measuring the number concentration (NC), surface area concentration (SAC), and mass concentration (MC). BEAS-2B cells were exposed to MEPs at different concentrations @*Results@#Our results reveal that BMD of NC and SAC were estimated by the best-fitting Hill model, while MC was estimated by Polynomial model. The BMDL for CRV following ALI exposure to MEPs were as follows: 364.2#/cm @*Conclusion@#These results indicate that MEPs exposure

ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVE@#To study the effect of calorie-enriched formula on postoperative catch-up growth in infants with cyanotic congenital heart disease (CHD).@*METHODS@#A total of 100 infants with cyanotic CHD who underwent surgical operation from January to December, 2017, were randomly divided into a high-calorie group (receiving calorie-enriched formula after surgery) and a conventional group (receiving standard formula after surgery), with 50 infants in each group. All infants were followed up for 6 months. The observation indices included body height, body weight, prealbumin, and N-terminal pro-brain natriuretic peptide before surgery, at the time of ventilator weaning and extubation after surgery, and at 1, 3, and 6 months after surgery. Height-for-age Z-score (HAZ), weight-for-age Z-score (WAZ), and weight-for-height Z-score (WHZ) were also assessed. Adverse reactions were recorded for both groups.@*RESULTS@#There were 25 cases (50%) and 21 cases (42%) of malnutrition in the high-calorie group and the conventional group respectively before surgery (@*CONCLUSIONS@#Compared with the standard formula, calorie-enriched formula can better help with postoperative catch-up growth in infants with cyanotic CHD.
